What this estimate includes

This calculator is designed for a quick planning comparison, with every important assumption visible. It includes:

  • Annual salary for two jobs
  • Round-trip mileage and commute time
  • Fuel, parking, tolls, and other recurring travel costs

How the calculation works

Adjusted annual pay = salary − annual fuel cost − annual parking, tolls, and other commute costs

Results update as you type. Rounding happens for display; calculations use the full values entered. A real statement, pay stub, contract, or account agreement may use different timing and rules.

A worked example

A $6,000 salary increase can shrink quickly when the new job adds 30 round-trip miles, an hour of daily travel, parking, and tolls.

Important limitations

This is an educational estimate, not financial, tax, legal, or employment advice. It cannot account for every local rule, fee, benefit, deduction, compounding convention, or personal circumstance. Use it to understand direction and scale, then verify an important decision with the relevant employer, lender, account provider, or qualified professional.

Frequently asked questions

Does this include vehicle depreciation?

No. Fuel is calculated directly, while maintenance and depreciation are left out because they vary substantially by vehicle. Add a monthly estimate under other commute costs if you want them reflected.

How is commute time shown?

The time-adjusted rate divides adjusted pay by standard work hours plus annual commute hours. It does not claim your employer owes wages for commuting.
